1. Acceptance of these terms

By using the Lucky Dog Maps apps or website (the “Service”), operated by Lucky Dog Software, LLC (“we,” “us”), you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

2. The service

Lucky Dog Maps is a trip planner and map for RVs, vans and overlanding rigs: it plans multi-day itineraries around a daily drive budget, proposes where to spend each night, shows public-land status, and keeps maps and trips available offline.

3. Your account

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. Reading the map does not require an account; contributing to the community does.

4. Your content

Everything you add — trips, notes, photos, sites and reports — remains yours. You grant us only the limited license needed to store your content, sync it to your devices, and display it to you and to the people you choose to share it with. You are responsible for having the right to save the content you add.

5. Acceptable use

Don’t misuse the Service: no unlawful content, no attempts to break, probe, or overload it, no accessing other people’s data, and no reselling the Service or the map data behind it.

6. Land status is information, not permission

The Service does not and cannot tell you that camping is legal at any particular place. Land-ownership boundaries shown in the app come from public datasets that are compiled at roughly 1:24,000 — often coarser than a phone’s own GPS fix — and whose publishers disclaim their use for determining legal boundaries or rights. The agencies do not publish dispersed camping legality as data at all.

So the Service reports what was checked, when the sources were published, and where the uncertainty is. The absence of a recorded restriction is never evidence that camping is permitted. Land we cannot place is shown as “not mapped as public,” and tribal land is always shown as its own class and always requires permission from the nation whose land it is.

You are responsible for confirming, on the ground and from the governing agency, that you may camp where you camp. Posted signs, gates, closure orders and rangers govern; this app does not.

7. Navigation, safety and your rig

Routes, distances, drive times and suggested stops are estimates. Road conditions, seasonal closures, wildfire, weather and clearance limits change faster than any dataset. Do not follow guidance from the Service into terrain your rig cannot handle, and do not operate a vehicle while interacting with the app. Rig dimensions you enter are used to filter suggestions on a best-effort basis and are not a guarantee that a route, site or bridge will accommodate you.

8. Community sites and reports

A site you submit stays private to your account until you publish it. When you publish, you make it available to other users, and you grant us and them a non-exclusive license to display and use it within the Service — including the photos you attach. Publish only what you have seen yourself, and do not publish a location whose owner has asked that it not be shared.

Site trust in the Service is derived from how recently people reported being there; it is not our endorsement, and it is not a statement that a site is safe, legal or open. We may remove content that is inaccurate, unlawful, or that a landowner or agency asks us to remove.

9. AI-assisted features

Some features use AI, and they run only when you deliberately ask them to — every one of them is marked with a ✨ before you tap it. Nothing in the Service calls an AI model in the background. Results are candidates, not findings: a campsite an AI spotted in a satellite image is unverified until a human stands on it, and should be treated exactly that way.

10. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from inside the app. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, and we’ll be reasonable about it.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We work hard to keep it reliable, but we can’t promise it will always be uninterrupted, accurate, or error-free — and you should plan for the map to be wrong, because sometimes it will be.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lucky Dog Software, LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim (or $50 if you paid nothing).

13. Changes

We may update the Service and these terms. If we make material changes to the terms, we’ll update this page and the effective date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
